There are SO MANY GREAT RESOURCES out there! It can be hard to know where to start. I personally read and reviewed the very comprehensive lists of books, websites, and experts that we recommend through Bay Area Communities for Health Education, and I’m happy to tell you about the merits of the resources we offer there.
My personal favorite place to start for younger kids is with Robie Harris’s books. I find that her language is just perfect, and she does all the hard work of figuring out what to say for you!
Lately I’m using amaze.org a lot for puberty and middle school topics, as well as the easy to read and fun book Will Puberty Last my Whole Life?
For older teens and young adults I LOVE scarleteen.com. The author of that site, Heather Corinna, is smart and funny and so knowledgable. Her book S.E.X.: The all you need to know guide for getting you through your teens and twenties is simply a must-have (and it’s available on the scarleteen site.)
As a parenting guide I would read anything written by Deborah Roffman, who I truly admire. Everything You Never Wanted Your Kids to Know about Sex (but were afraid they’d ask) is brilliant for parents as well.
There are lots more great books and websites out there. Check out my recommended lists at bacheinfo.org and let’s talk if you have questions.
